Why is there a limit of 6 seats per household?
Look, we get it. The internet is currently flooded with automated, soul-crushing bots trying to optimize every breath you take. And if you are reading this thinking, “Great, another SaaS tool using a robot to gatekeep my kitchen,” take a deep breath. A real human designed this boundary, and a somewhat witty AI is just here helping articulate it.
We cap our standard self-serve plans at a maximum of 6 seats. Here is exactly why we drew the line there—and why it’s actually a good thing for your kitchen.
1. Protecting App Performance (and Keeping AI Fast)
Every paid seat on FreshFridgeFriend includes unlimited AI receipt and photo scans. It’s awesome, but it takes a lot of computing heavy lifting. When a household grows beyond 6 people, the sheer volume of food being logged, consumed, and scanned simultaneously can turn our database syncs into a slow, groaning mess. We cap the seats at 6 to ensure that when you're standing in front of the open fridge trying to make dinner, your pantry list loads instantly. No digital lagging while your ice cream melts.
2. Squelching the "Group-Buy" Roommate Loophole
Our scaling prices are heavily discounted to keep things cheap for real families and roommates sharing a roof. Without a cap, an entire 12-person college fraternity living in three different apartment complexes would try to squeeze onto one single "Household" plan to save a buck. Keeping the limit at 6 keeps the app sustainable for us, fair to our community, and ensures we can keep throwing 1.5% of our profits directly back to the planet.
3. The Cluttered Fridge Psychology
The core philosophy of FreshFridgeFriend is making sure that lonely zucchini doesn't turn into a science experiment behind the pickles. Managing a single physical refrigerator with more than 6 active chefs is pure chaos in real life—and it gets just as messy in a digital app. We find that 6 seats is the absolute sweet spot for household harmony.
Got a Legitimately Massive Kitchen Squad?
If you are running a giant extended family empire, a student housing co-op, or a small communal kitchen that genuinely needs 7 or more active logins, don't panic. We aren't going to lock you out.
Because large groups require a little extra backend infrastructure tuning, we handle them on a case-by-case basis. Just drop us a line at hello@freshfridgefriend.app with your target crew size. A real, living, breathing human will get back to you and set up a custom tier manually. No algorithmic judgment, promised.
